Alice Gustafson was born in 1892, and was a 1911 graduate of Batavia High School. Eleven years later she began her career as a teacher in Batavia, first at Grace McWayne School, and then Louise White School, where she became principal in 1938. Alice Gustafson School opened in 1957, and has since seen several additions to the facilities, the last, completed in 2008, serving as the districts Early Childhood Center.
